Clinical significance of test

Serum amyloid A(SAA) level circulating in the blood is known to increase dramatically in response to tissue damage or inflammation, classifying it as an acute phase protein. It can rapidly increase about 1000 times within 4-6h, and rapid decrease to normal level after antigen clearance.
